Dust off your berets, pull on your boots and dress up in your finest red, white and blue, and head out to SA’s leading wine and culinary destination for the annual Franschhoek Bastille Festival, now in its 20th year, which takes place over the weekend the 13th and 14 July 2013.
As they say, Go Large or Go Home… With Franschhoek’s French Hugenot influence, they literally paint the town red – you can expect everything French found in every nook and cranny, live French music at various establishments, French fare, a minstrel parade, Farmers’ Market, Craft Stalls, chidren’s activities and much more. The focal point at the Franschhoek Bastille Festival 2012, as always, will be the Food and Wine Marquee, where Franschhoek’s award winning and famous wine estates are offering their finest wines for you to taste and enjoy. Also on offer is mouth watering dishes from Franschhoek’s widely acclaimed chefs.
Be sure not to miss out on the other festival activities, which include boules – the largest and longest running boules competition of its kind, The Waiters’ Race, the Franschhoek minstrel parade, as well as the popular barrel-rolling contest.
